Hey guys, my name is Max Ketchum and I'm pumped to get started here on Metafy. I went to my first tournament for Melee in 2007 after watching tournaments for a long time and fell in love with competitive Smash immediately. (Yes, I'm old.) Over the years, my focus has shifted from competition to behind the scenes work like commentary and tournament organization. You might know me from seeing me on the mic or from the Let's Make Moves series, but I'm pretty sharp on the sticks as well! I was power ranked in New Jersey several times in Brawl and Smash 4, with wins on some of the best players in the world. Although I don't really compete in Ultimate, I still have thousands of hours in the game and a deep understanding of the psychology behind fighting games and learning in general. I'm currently one of the best April players in the world in NASB as well. In addition to being a professor for a graduate class in esports business administration, I've also taught several of my friends the ropes of high level Smash (and other games) from the ground up to great success. I'm very passionate about teaching, and as a commentator, I've had to master breaking down complex interactions in a way that the average viewer can easily understand. My primary goal is to communicate with students in a way that directly resonates with them on an individual level so nothing is lost in translation. I believe that my individualized and structured approach to teaching will distinguish me from other coaches just as much as my wide selection of lesson offerings.
