I'm Stephen "Doorstop" Schmidt, a ZSS and PT main from Ohio. I've competed in smash tournaments for nearly 7 years, starting in smash 4 back in 2015. Prior to that I competed in Pokemon VGC as well as chess. Since the first day of ultimate I've been a top representative both characters. I've won tournaments ranging from locals to regionals over almost all of the Midwest's top talent in the last year alone. Coaching is as much my passion as competing is. I have a long history of coaching smash players of all levels and characters from my region, different states, and different countries. I even coach chess at a local high school and am a certified financial coach! I love the improvement process and helping people work through it to better themselves, whether it be in gameplay or in life. My vod review process is highly analytical and detailed, sometimes to the point of tedious. I don't let myself stop until I work out every reason why I lost a set as well as the most necessary steps I need to take away. I put in no less work for my students than I do myself. Beyond just gameplay, I have plenty of experience with healthy competitive mentalities, game knowledge, and practical routines to help students practice. Learning is about repetition and I have a tendency to talk fast so I make sure there's always a way for students to review everything I tell them in their own time. All students will receive a saved recording of the coaching session regardless of whether or not it was streamed.
