Hello, I'm Josh and you may recognize my handle from streaming various "anime" fighting game tournaments. Contrary to belief, though, I'm not just an event streamer, I'm also a tournament player myself and have been competing at locals and majors since 2011. I started learning to play fighting games competitively with BlazBlue, but despite several top-8 near misses (9th or 13th, oops), the first game I started placing consistently well with was Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Particularly for P4AU, I placed top 8 at CEO 2015, several times at AnimEVO (EVO side events), and most recently at Frosty Faustings which had one of the largest brackets for the game in years. I also won or placed top 3 at many, many local P4AU events in SoCal. Since then I've also competed in Xrd, DBFZ, GBVS, and GGST. Recently I placed 9th in a 166 person bracket for GBVS at Frosty Faustings. Although originally from the US, I moved to Tokyo in 2019 and, until COVID, was competing regularly at local events for BBCF and GBVS. I'm knowledgeable in both of those games, as well as P4AU, and able to teach; I also tutored science and math professionally and am skilled at explaining things in an easy to understand manner, even in fighting games, which you can also see from my YouTube channel.
