Fundamentals of Coordination: An Introduction to Competitive Concepts

There comes a point in each Splatoon player's path when they plateau, usually when they climb into the higher ranks. What separates the rising stars from the seasoned veterans is synergy: understanding how to work with the three other players on your team. Whether it's in Solo Ranked or forming a squad with your buddies, the best way to improve is to learn to play together. This plan is designed to bestow the framework for decision making that I taught to several players that have used it to become competent, mid-level competitors. This understanding is essential to bring any player's game into a third dimension where the depth of Splatoon can be fully realized.

Sessions Overview

Area Control / Splat Zones

1.5 hours

The central concept, reinforced by understanding the most essential mode. In this session, I'll explain the concept map that shows how each of these ideas will help you win games. I will follow this up with a review session of tournament footage of the mode, and a session devoted to me helping you implement these ideas in real time.

2v1s / Rainmaker

1.5 hours

The best way to clear a path is with a man advantage. Rainmaker is my specialty, and I'll teach you to turn its chaos in your favor by following one simple rule: Pair Up. I will follow this up with a review session of tournament footage of the mode, and a session devoted to me helping you implement these ideas in real time.

Special Coordination / Clam Blitz

1.5 hours

In order to break a defensive position, you need multiple strong tools and follow up. We'll go over how to utilize special weapons in time with your teammates to create proper takedowns of enemy positions (with visual representations). I will follow this up with a review session of tournament footage of the mode, and a session devoted to me helping you implement these ideas in real time.

Pressure / Tower Control

1.5 hours

A nebulous concept with tangible results. This lesson is about how a charger's laser, a hidden opponent, and a couple bombs can win games. I will follow this up with a review session of tournament footage of the mode, and a session devoted to me helping you implement these ideas in real time.
