[Goat Format] Introduction to Competitive Goat Format

This training plan is perfect for existing Yu-Gi-Oh! players who want to learn how to play the game's most popular retro format. It will go over what Goat Format is, what the modern metagame looks like, and fundamental theories to keep in mind in order to find success in the format at a competitive level. It also includes two sessions where I help you iron out your technical play. I will use the game knowledge that I have accumulated over my time playing the format to be a helpful and informative resource for you! Sessions Overview

Lesson 2: Playing Goat Format, Part 1

1 hour

In the second session of this training plan, we will play matches with the deck that was provided to you in the previous session using DuelingBook. We will play at least one match against somebody on the DuelingBook ladder (where I backseat you), as well as another match where you play against me. The number of matches that we ultimately play will depend on how long each match takes.

Lesson 3: Playing Goat Format, Part 2

1 hour

In the final session of this training plan, you will play a final match of Goat Format on the DuelingBook ladder or against me (your choice), focusing on how you have (hopefully) improved since your games in the first gameplay session. Additional games will be squeezed in as time permits.

Lesson 1: What Matters in Goat Format?

In the first session of this training plan, I will go over what Goat Format is, what the modern metagame looks like, and go over fundamental theories to keep in mind in order to find success as a Goat Format player. If you are a current format player, I will also emphasize how Goat Format differs from the Advanced Constructed format and how one must think differently/understand how to prioritize certain resources. By the end of the session, I will also give you a DuelingBook deck download link to get started with playing the format online. (You are free to build the deck in person, of course, but given the nature of Metafy being an online coaching platform, we will be using DuelingBook during these sessions.)
