1-Month (8 hours) Tournament Prep

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
4 Sessions 8 hours $600

This is a 1-month long (8 hours, divided into 4 sessions) training plan designed to prepare you for an upcoming tournament and achieve your Pokemon goals. We'll go through the various stages, from building a team and adjusting it as we go, to battling practice and matchup preparations. After purchasing this plan, you can schedule the four 2-hour sessions on whatever days/times work for you. I recommend one session every week (hence the 1-Month Training Plan!), but it's absolutely possible to schedule the sessions whenever you want.

Sessions Overview

Week 2

2 hours

Starting after week 1, I'll be assigning some "homework", including things like starting to save a few notable replays for us to look at at beginning of each subsequent session. After we go through how you performed with the team at the beginning of the session, we'll look at things we can change with the team to improve any weaknesses we've encountered since the previous version of the team. Then we'll jump into battles on Showdown together for the remainder of the session, where we'll not only look at areas we can improve the team further based on our practice, but also start looking at aspects of piloting the team that we can improve on as well (ie. team preview, recognizing win conditions or pin opportunities during the battle, etc).

Week 1

2 hours

In week 1 we'll cover teambuilding. We'll look at the current metagame that has developed, discuss the types of teams that might best suit both the meta and your playstyle, and put together the first versions of our eventual final team. We'll also do some battles with the team(s) together on Showdown, so that we can get a good idea of things that need to be changed or adjusted, and land on a solid team skeleton to continue to practice with and fully flesh out in the coming weeks.

Week 4

2 hours

The beginning of the session will again be reviewing a few replays from the prior week, going over team performance, and making any final changes if necessary. From there I want to focus the last session on Best of 3 practice against common meta teams you should expect to face at the upcoming tournament. I'll queue up some meta teams against you on Showdown and we'll play some Bo3s, talking through the matchup and key turns afterwards to best prepare you for the teams you'll be most likely to face.

Week 3

2 hours

Like week 2, we'll look over team performance and a few replays from the previous week of "homework", as well as discuss areas we can continue to adjust aspects of the team at the beginning of the session. From there we'll jump into battles again together on Showdown. At this point our team should be nearing the final stages (maybe we'll make small changes like some EV spreads, 4th move choices, or items from here on out), so while we'll still keep stock of things we might want to adjust with the team, there will be more focus on the battling aspect of piloting the team. We really want to start to perfect our team preview decisions, understand some common win conditions we might be encountering with our team, pattern recognition against common meta-matchups and how to best them, etc.
