Welcome to the jungle. WHO AM I?: I’m Rishi, formerly known as SmashG0D. I’ve been competing in smash tournaments since 2005 and have been ranked in every game. I’ve reached top 30 in the world for Melee and have placed top 8 at multiple major tournaments. WHY ME?: The most valuable traits I bring as a coach are my abilities to 1) effectively IDENTIFY how individual players can maximize their efforts in the game and 2) clearly COMMUNICATE that information in a way that makes sense to the specific player. Everyone perceives the game in a different way, and my job is to learn how you think and find what works best for you. I’m most well-known for playing Marth, but I’ve spent countless hours practicing and studying each character in the game. You may also have seen my video essays on http://youtube.com/rishissb, where I break down specific concepts in Smash into generalized frameworks, such as the science of high-speed decision-making under pressure, and the art of expressing an idea through your gameplay. Outside of the game, I’ve worked hard to build a sustainable mindset that also helps me achieve peak performance. This involved examining both my physical and mental preparation for a tournament - knowing yourself and how you react to different variables in a tournament setting is just as (or more) important as learning your frame data. WHAT TO EXPECT: My goal is to help you find your big-impact next steps, starting with easy changes and leading up to difficult adjustments. We’ll start by assessing your current skill and identifying your goals. From there, sessions will be tailored to the individual based on what I think you need - that might mean reviewing fundamentals, analyzing VODs, outlining gameplans, or reviewing your tournament prep process.
