Ahoy there! My name is Paul (a.k.a StripedSweater) and I'm a 24 year old content creator on Twitch! My primary game of focus currently is Mordhau and that is what I will be coaching here on Metafy. My goal is to help newcomers improve their skills, have a better understanding of the game, and hopefully inspire them to continue their journey through the 1st person medieval slasher genre. My first medieval slasher game was Chivalry: Medieval Warfare which I started playing shortly after it released back in 2012. Its character, combat, and exciting new genre left an outstanding impression on me, appealing to me like no other game has. I eagerly invested thousands of hours into the game, being one of the few veteran players to continue playing it throughout its lifespan. Naturally, my skill at the game - and reputation within it - only grew with time. After hundreds of hours of practice, I mastered the use of over half of the game's weapons, ranging from the competent, commonplace Messer to the uncanny and unorthodox Flail. I habitually placed at the top of the leaderboard in any game mode I entered, with my number of kills far outreaching the runner-up player, and frequently outnumbering my number of deaths by as much as ten to one. I reached an astoundingly high rank of 58, only surpassed by a handful of the game's veterans. Though this was noteworthy on its face, I was soon recognized by other players by my name and armor alone, leaving a lasting impression on the player base for my depth of knowledge, skill, and willingness to have fun. With Mordhau announced as the spiritual successor to Chivalry, I was interested to know more and upon its release in 2019, officially made the switch. Right away It was easy to see that Mordhau's combat was a step in the right direction for the medieval slasher genre. It took the same core gameplay elements from Chivalry and expanded them to a more in depth and thought out experience. My accumulated skill and game-knowledge from Chivalry easily transferred over to Mordhau and gave me an advantage on the battlefield compared to the other players unfamiliar with the genre. Essentially having a head start, I spent my time after release learning the new and more in depth mechanics that Mordhau has to offer and over the past year and a half that the game has been out, have fine tuned my gameplay to a point far beyond the average player. As I write this, my rank of 219 mirrors that of my Chivalry rank, insofar as it is only surpassed by a handful of players, and is a testament to my immense combat experience. I started streaming on Twitch shortly after the release of Mordhau and have quickly grown to be one of the games top streamers. If you've played on NA servers or watch the game on Twitch then you have probably seen me around. On stream I do my best to answer any questions chat has about the game, drawing from my combat experience and deep understanding of gameplay mechanics. From drags and accels, to chambers and feints, to footwork, to weapon knowledge and timings, to good starter builds, to recent patch note changes - If you've got a question, I most likely have the answers. So why do I want to start coaching? Well one of the biggest things I've found from playing the game and streaming is that Mordhau is not a very friendly experience for newcomers. The game has a lot of in depth gameplay aspects that are not as simple as "press LMB to win". Additionally, the initial surge of new players the game had on launch has died down. When the game came out there were tons of new people that could fight others of similar skill level and learn from each other. Nowadays, servers are filled with many players that have hundreds or even thousands of hours invested into the game - such as myself. As a result, anyone who tries to get into the game today is well behind in skill level compared to anyone else - which discourages many from taking the time to play and learn. My goal with coaching is to help newcomers who really want to learn the game get caught up to the rest of the pack as quickly as possible by learning from someone who has been around the chopping block his share of times. By providing students with 1 on 1 lessons, I can offer a more personalized and comprehensive experience to help you grow as a player more than I could by just answering questions on stream. My hope is that with me as your coach, you will see a noticeable improvement to your gameplay, come to really enjoy Mordhau, and become a part of the medieval slasher gaming community!
