Learning Illaoi

This is a training plan designed for players that are inexperienced or brand new to Illaoi. Over the course of a few sessions, you will learn how to smash with tentacles and test the spirits of your opponents. Specifically, you will learn the fundamentals of Illaoi's gameplay, build strategies, matchups and optimal win conditions. This is a mix of discussion based learning, practical application, live coaching, and VOD review. Optimal for players gold and below that want to become a tentacle menace on the Rift!

Sessions Overview

Tentacle Tactics: Dominating the Solo Lane

1 hour

In this next lesson we will examine how Illaoi's solo lane dominance in both top and mid translates to one of the strongest mid game power spikes in League of Legends. We will cover general matchups and build paths as well as how to snowball effectively. I will also demonstrate some methods for Illaoi training in the practice tool.

Tentacle Tactics: Testing Spirits

1 hour

This session will be used as a tool to practically apply the earlier lessons. I will live coach you as you play Illaoi in a ranked or draft setting for 2 or 3 games as time permits. We will then do an after action review to establish your tendencies and habits that need to be adjusted.

Tentacle Tactics: Introducing Illaoi

1 hour

This first lesson will be primarily teaching the core mechanics behind Illaoi and demonstrating what successful games should look like from start to finish. We will be reviewing VODs of successful Illaoi players at the highest levels from multiple regions.

Tentacle Tactics: "They Must Be Tested To Grow"

1 hour

I will live coach or VOD review a game and we will continue to improve on the skills you have learned thus far. Following this we will do 1v1 practice in select matchups determined through mutual discussion. This lesson is the culmination of the training plan. At this juncture the student will have a thorough understanding of how to win with Illaoi and become a stronger overall player as well.

Tentacle Tactics: Harsh Lesson

1 hour

In this lesson we will cover Illaoi's weaknesses and deeply examine her worst matchups as well as the champions in other roles that can make it difficult to carry games. We will VOD review or I will live coach a game, against one of her more difficult opponents if possible.
