How To Position Like a Pro
Rocket League 3v3's have a wide and expansion set of opportunities for a player to choose from. Without focus or previous knowledge, many players will make the wrong decision or in general, fall just slightly short of the right one. To minimize the set of opportunities, and make them more achievable for players, we generally will categorize and set default decisions for players on certain scenarios. These categories are called positions and we have three primary positions and an off position, or a soft fourth position if you want to think of it like that. Introduction Early in the game, players took a liking to a common trend as well as a Gregan video series called tabletop tactics to define the three positions simply as , one, two, and three, or First, Second, and Third. Naming the Roles something specific never really matter, but its important to align common phrases to better share knowledge and keep improvement heading in the same direction. With that following into RLCS there have been minor improvements or adjustments to how we cover each position, but since there will always be three players on each team there will most likely not be any more big changes to how we categorize and identify our three players.
