Graduate: the Low Ink Success Package

Calling all new Splatoon teams! Your road to standing out and winning your first tournament starts with Low Ink: a training ground for new players. As someone who has gone through the low level circuit, coached players within it, and commentated it for years, I can train you to achieve your goals in Splatoon's most prolific Arcadian event.

Sessions Overview

Engage: Scrimmage Session

1 hour

During the second session, I'll sit in and record the overhead for a scrimmage the team plays in. During this session, I'll talk things through with the team between games, giving pointers and assessing how the team is functioning as a unit. This will also give us footage for the next session.

Foundation: Team Dynamics + Goals

1 hour

The first lesson will take place in a Discord call with the whole team. Here, I'll ask about everyone's gameplay styles, team leadership, communication, team mindset, and the goals the team hopes to accomplish. Establishing all this will help build up a necessary foundation for the future sessions and the team in the long term.

Review: How to Analyze a VOD

1 hour

The third session will be a deep dive as a team into the scrimmage footage. Here, we'll go over best practices as a team to get the most out of reviewing an overhead. We'll also take a closer look at the key concepts of area control and special coordination, and how those ideas translate into the action of the game.

Breathe: 1-on-1 Play Session w/ each member

1 hour

For each player, I'll do a short gameplay session to take a step back from the intensity of the other sessions. We'll have some fun playing, we can talk about any questions or concerns each player might have. I want to establish a connection with each player on the team.

Formulate: Scrimmage Session

1 hour

The most important session by far is the second scrim session. Once again, I'll sit in and record, but this is the time to put everything we've talked about into practice and formulate better habits. This session should be focused on execution, and ensuring each player is well-prepared both physically and mentally is something we will talk about prior, so that each player can learn to play at their best.

Transition: Preparing for Low Ink

1 hour

Whether you've played in 20 tournaments or just 1, this recap session should occur just one or two days before Low Ink. We'll look at maplists, talk about counterpicks, strategize plans, and mentally prepare for the marathon tournament that is Low Ink. We'll also review notes and recap all of the previous sessions to remind the team of their weaknesses and strengths. After this session, the team will be poised to take Low Ink by the reigns, and all tournaments to come.

Overcome: Analyzing Barriers

1 hour

After an extended period of playtime, each team will run into problems that fall outside of gameplay. Whether it be mental blocks, tilting, scheduling issues, leadership struggles, or something else, most new teams will need to push past that barrier in order to move forward. During this VOD review session, the focus will be on external factors and teammate relationships. There's nothing more important to achieving your goals than trusting and putting confidence in not only your teammates but also yourself.
