The better the player, the stronger their knowledge and understanding of the game is. The better the teacher, the more skilled they are at transferring it to you. I believe it takes proficiency in both to be an effective coach. As a competitive player of 2+ years I’ve coached over 800+ students of varying ranks, helping them not just to reach their rank goals but actually improve and understand the game as a better player. With this experience I adapt my session for the unique individual to accommodate for their strengths/weaknesses, learning styles and goals. From my years of Coaching Experience... With no available in-game tutorial the discrepancy between a high elo player who studies the game and your average player trying to push to the next rank grows larger every set. Both parties don't even seem to playing the same game anymore as their understanding of the game are so vastly different. Rather than pouring hours into mastering the wrong thing discover what really makes the game work. A beginner shown the right way will always overtake someone who's perfected a flawed game plan.
